Queensway Carleton Hospital Stroke Prevention Clinic

The Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) first established its stroke prevention outpatient clinic in 2007. This neurologist and nurse specialist led clinic serves patients seen in the QCH Emergency Department for symptoms of mild stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) providing rapid access to the necessary investigations, diagnosis, treatment and risk factor management. The Stroke Prevention Clinic (SPC) is found in the Sreedhar Natarajan Ambulatory Care Unit of the James Beach Health Center located at the hospital’s West entrance (facing Richmond Road).  Referrals are made through the Queensway Carleton Hospital and the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital Emergency departments.  Referred patients are immediately triaged for level of urgency and then contacted directly by the SPC booking office with an appointment.
