Peer support groups provide the opportunity to share ideas, information, and coping methods with others dealing with the experience of stroke. These groups often meet monthly and both stroke survivors and their care partners benefit from these groups.

  • Renfrew County: the group meets monthly in Pembroke. Contact Alice Grenon at 613 732 9993 ext. 3220
  • Ottawa: The Stroke Survivors Association has monthly meetings, Peer to Peer visits, and runs the Living With Stroke workshops in French and Enlgish.  For more information telephone 613 237 0650 or
  • Eastern Ontario Stroke Survivor Support Group: this group meets monthly in Cornwall on the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30-8 pm at the Riverdale Terrace Retirement Residence, 1200 Second St. West, Cornwall (Party Room, Lower Level). The group welcomes all stroke survivors, those with brain inuries, their caregivers and the general public interested in stroke.  They offer social opportunities, educational topics and support in a positive atmosphere.
