What is the AlphaFIM?
UDSMR’s AlphaFIM instrument is designed to assess the burden of care associated with a stroke patient in the acute care hospital setting. This tool can be useful for screening patients and assisting with discharge planning but is not intended to replace clinical judgment nor the interdisciplinary decision-making process.
Who is eligible for AlphaFIM Credentialing through the CRSN?
AlphaFIM Credentialing through the CRSN is available to health care professionals who regularly work with stroke patients in an acute care hospital within the Champlain region.
- To be credentialed, health care professionals must complete a credentialing test with a mark of >80% to pass.
- An AlphaFIM e-Learning module has been made available to Regional acute care sites. It can be accessed via the learning management system available to hospital employees. All new assessors must complete the module.
- Assessors are required to credential every two years and may choose to either review the e-Learning module or simply complete the credentialing test.
- The CRSN will provide two lunch and learn sessions annually to discuss and review the AlphaFIM. You may attend the lunch and learn sessions at any time, as long as you have completed the learning module if you are new to certifying.
Registration and Cost
Registration for the AlphaFIM online test is completed through the CRSN website. There is a $45 fee to complete the test which will be invoiced to the acute care site.
